There is still time
And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory. Revelation 16:9
Last week there was a lot of excitement about a solar eclipse that took place on Monday. Evidently it was a rare phenomenon, and it is predicted that it will not happen again until 2044, 20 years from now. My husband and I sat out in our yard with our eclipse glasses on and watched as the moon moved between the earth and the sun. At one point the air became noticeably warmer and at the point of 99% coverage it was noticeably cooler. I wasn’t surprised about the drop in temperature, but it seemed as the moon was moving in front of the sun, the rays were intensified. I don’t really understand the physics of it all, but I do know that it was a clear demonstration of how the moon and the sun affect the temperature here on the earth.
In the reading today, the fourth angel that came to of the temple, poured out his bowl on the sun which produced a scorching heat in the world. I have experienced a scorching once when I overextended my exposure in the sun and didn’t realize I was getting burnt. It doesn’t happen much in my part of the world, but there are many places where severe intensity can produce burns even up to the 3rd degree. However, when the angel pours his bowl out on the sun, this will be beyond anything we have ever experience up to that point. Yet, people will not call out to God for help, but will instead blaspheme His name to a greater extent than then have before. Their hearts will be hard and unrepentant.
What I find most interesting is that there is still an opportunity to repent. God is so willing to receive people when they call out to Him with a truly repentant heart even to the point of the last days and final call to reach them. This is good news for us today. No matter what you have done in the past or even what you are doing right now, God wants to rescue you and save you from an eternity, separated from Him. All you have to do is call on His name, turn away from evil and have a truly repentant heart. He has a place for you in His plan and in this world right now, but you can only accomplish it by receiving His love and empowering grace to get you there.
Today I want to encourage you to give your life over to Him if you have not before. Call out to you loving heavenly Father before it is too late. He is ready to receive you to Himself as you receive His great gift of salvation. He will lift you out of any pit that you have gotten into and put you on a path of totally walking out the plan and design for your life. He has a planned purpose and part for you to do in the big picture, get in the body today and begin to fill the purpose that you have been called to.
If you have never received the Lord Jesus to be the Lord and Savior of your life, do that today by praying the prayer below from your heart. He will come into your life and change the world that you live in from ok to best.
Pray: God in heaven, I know I’m a sinner and I need a Savior. I want to turn away from my sinful life to the life You have planned for me. Please forgive my sins, cleanse me from my past, and make me new today. I know Your Son, Jesus died for me. I believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead. At this very moment, I accept, confess, and proclaim Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior . . . to be Lord of my life from this day forward. I now have a right relationship with God my Father through this salvation in the blood of Jesus. I thank You for giving me Your Holy Spirit to guide me and to empower me to accomplish the things You have planned for my life in Jesus’ name, Amen
Today’s scripture reading: Revelation 16:7-9
7 And I heard another from the altar saying, “Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.”
8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.
