Prosperity
Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity. ~ Psalms 118:25
Prosperity is often misunderstood. In recent years, some have taken the idea of biblical prosperity and reduced it to financial gain, making it seem like God’s blessings are all about money. But true prosperity, the kind that comes from God, is so much deeper than material wealth. God’s prosperity is about wholeness, peace, health, and divine provision in every area of life.
When the Bible speaks of prosperity, it refers to God’s complete well-being in our lives, spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical. It is about living by faith, trusting in God’s provision, and walking in His divine health and care.
God’s prosperity includes:
- Peace of mind – Freedom from anxiety, knowing that God is in control.
- Spiritual growth – A deeper relationship with God, walking in His purpose.
- Divine provision – Having what you need when you need it, according to God’s perfect plan.
- Health and strength – Living in the wholeness and vitality that comes from Him.
- Fulfilled relationships – Friendships and connections that bring life and encouragement.
- Joy and contentment – Finding satisfaction in God rather than chasing after material things.
Even today, I sometimes struggle with fully trusting God for His prosperity in every area of my life and embracing His best for me. Whether it’s asking for financial provision, thinking that money is the answer to my stress, or seeking His peace, knowing that true peace is found in resting in Him, I am continually learning to rely on Him. But when I read Psalm 118, it shifts my perspective. I realize that prosperity isn’t just about money or getting ahead in life, but instead it’s about trusting Him completely and following His plan.
During those times of struggle and stress, God always provides for me in ways I never expect. Rarely does His provision come as a large financial contribution; most of the time, it appears in His consistent presence and faithfulness. That’s when I experience true peace in my heart, even when my circumstances haven’t changed yet. He continually shows me that true prosperity is living life step by step with Him, knowing He is right beside me every step of the way.
Below are some ways you can incorporate prosperity into everyday life:
1. Trust in God’s Provision Daily
- Begin each day by thanking God for His faithfulness.
- Remember past times when He has provided, and trust that He will do it again.
- Surrender your worries to Him, knowing that He is your source (Matthew 6:33).
2. Speak Life Over Your Circumstances
- Instead of focusing on what you lack, declare God’s promises:
- “My God shall supply all my needs” (Philippians 4:19).
- “The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing” (Psalm 23:1).
- Speak words of faith and gratitude, even before you see the breakthrough.
3. Seek Spiritual Prosperity First
- Make time to pray and read the Bible daily.
- Surround yourself with people who encourage your faith.
- Ask God to grow your relationship with Him above all else.
4. Live Generously
- True prosperity isn’t about accumulating things, it’s about giving and sharing what you already have.
- Bless others with your time, resources, and encouragement.
- Trust that as you give, God will always provide (Luke 6:38).
5. Walk in God’s Peace and Health
- Prosperity includes emotional and physical well-being.
- Take care of your body through rest, nutrition, and exercize.
- Guard your heart and mind by focusing on God’s truth (Isaiah 26:3).
Today I want to encourage you to take a moment to thank God for the prosperity you already have. Thank Him for your health, relationships, peace, and daily provision. Then ask Him to help you trust Him even more in the areas where you feel lack. He is your provider, and He will always be faithful!
Today’s scripture reading: Psalms 118
1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
2 Let Israel now say, “His mercy endures forever.”
3 Let the house of Aaron now say, “His mercy endures forever.”
4 Let those who fear the Lord now say, “His mercy endures forever.”
5 I called on the Lord in distress; The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
7 The Lord is for me among those who help me; Therefore, I shall see my desire on those who hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.
10 All nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord, I will destroy them.
11 They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me; but in the name of the Lord, I will destroy them.
12 They surrounded me like bees; They were quenched like a fire of thorns; For in the name of the Lord, I will destroy them.
13 You pushed me violently, that I might fall, but the Lord helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.
15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted; The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
18 The Lord has chastened me severely, but He has not given me over to death.
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will go through them, and I will praise the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord, through which the righteous shall enter.
21 I will praise You, for You have answered me, and have become my salvation.
22 The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.
23 This was the Lord’s doing; It is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity.
26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
27 God is the Lord, and He has given us light; Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You.
29 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
