Psalms 119

His Blessing

Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with their whole heart! ~ Psalms 119:2

If you have ever wondered how to walk in God’s blessing, Psalms 119 holds the key. Right from the start, it states that those who are undefiled, walk in His ways, keep His testimonies, and seek Him with their whole heart consistently will live His blessing. It goes on to say that the way to do these things is to know God’s Word, hide it in your heart, and seek Him personally.

For a long time, I believed that prayer alone was the key to experiencing God’s blessings. While prayer is essential to growing my relationship with Him, I now realize that God’s Word is not just an ancient book but it is a living, powerful guide meant to shape every part of my life. The more I read and applied His Word, the more I see His truth transforming my heart, my thoughts, and my actions. Following the direction in Scripture leads me down the path of blessing and purpose that He designed for us from the very beginning.

Reading the Bible is one thing but living it out is where transformation happens. Here are some intentional steps you can take to include God’s Word in your life every day and truly follow what you read:

Here are some steps you can take to make sure you are including and following His Words:

1. Make Time for the Word Every Day

“I will meditate on Your precepts and contemplate Your ways.”Psalms 119:15

  • Set aside dedicated time each day to read Scripture. Whether it’s morning, lunchtime, or before bed, consistency matters.
  • Start with small, realistic goals like one Psalm or a chapter a day and allow God’s Word to become part of your routine.
  • Use a Bible reading plan or devotional to guide you if you’re unsure where to start. The YouVersion App and The Bible Recap are great tools to keep you engaged.

2. Meditate on What You Read

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”Psalms 119:11

  • Instead of simply reading, take time to think about what God is saying to you through Scripture. Ask yourself:
    • What is God revealing to me about His character?
    • How does this apply to my current life situation?
    • What action can I take based on this truth?
  • Write down key verses that stand out to you in a journal and memorize them so they become embedded and locked away in your heart to call upon when you face struggles.

3. Pray the Word Over Your Life

“Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with their whole heart!”Psalms 119:2

  • Turn Scripture into personal prayers. For example, if you read Psalm 119:10, pray:
“Lord, I seek You with my whole heart today. Thank you for keeping me so I don’t wander away from Your truth.”
  • Speak God’s Word over your life, your family, and your challenges. His promises are powerful when declared in faith.

4. Apply What You Learn

“Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.”Psalms 119:133

  • The Bible is meant to be lived, not just read. Every time you study a passage, ask God how He wants you to apply it in your life.
  • If Scripture calls you to forgive, take a step toward forgiving. If it calls you to trust, let go of fear and surrender your worries to God.
  • Make obedience a daily habit. Even small steps in the right direction bring great spiritual growth.

5. Surround Yourself with God’s Word

“I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches.”Psalms 119:14

  • Listen to worship music that includes Scripture to keep your heart and mind focused on Him.
  • Place Bible verses where you’ll see them daily.  Places like your mirror, phone screen saver, or in your workspace.
  • Join a small group to stay accountable and gain deeper understanding through discussion with others.

The more you seek God through His Word and apply it, the more you experience His blessings of peace, joy, and direction in every area of our lives. Allow Psalm 119 to remind you that when you keep His testimonies and seek Him wholeheartedly, you walk in the fullness of His blessing.

Today, I encourage you to take one step toward immersing yourself in God’s Word. Whether it’s committing to daily Bible reading, meditating on a verse, or applying a truth to your life, His blessings will follow when you seek Him with your whole heart. Let’s walk in His Word and experience the life He has prepared for us!

Today’s scripture reading: Psalms 119: 1-16

1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord!

2 Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart!

3 They also do no iniquity; they walk in His ways.

4 You have commanded us to keep Your precepts diligently.

5 Oh, that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes!

6 Then I would not be ashamed, when I look into all Your commandments.

7 I will praise You with uprightness of heart, when I learn Your righteous judgments.

8 I will keep Your statutes; Oh, do not forsake me utterly!

9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.

10 With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!

11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

12 Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes.

13 With my lips I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth.

14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches.

15 I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways.

16 I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.
