Connect, Care and Grow

And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.  2 Timothy 2:2

In this passage, Paul is telling Timothy to teach faithful people who will continue to teach others the message that Paul is preaching.  He wants Timothy to make disciples so they can go on to spread the good news and do the work of the ministry, just as Paul is teaching him. This message is also for us today.  You can hear Paul saying even to us right now, “The things you have heard and learned from me through the witness of the scriptures, connect with others and commit to teaching them.”

So how do we do it?  How do we teach others that truly want to learn and teach about a life of faith and grace in Christ Jesus?  The first place to start is with prayer.  Ask the Lord to lead you to those who are faithful and want to learn and then teach others.  Then ask Him for a platform or place to do this.  Leading a small group or Bible study is a perfect way to connect others.  You will find in leading and studying, you are learning right along with those in your group.  Bringing others together in a group setting inspires them to want to pass the message along.  By connecting with others in groups, you can commit to faithful people who will be able to teach the things you have heard and seen from Paul’s writings and in all the scriptures.

Coming together in a group setting whether it is weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, will not only help you to connect with those in your group, you will be able to care for the spiritual need of those in your gathering.  Leading a group is the perfect opportunity to love on others and walk through life with them.  The result will be growing closer to others and closer to God.  You will set up a circle of trust and form bonds that will last for all eternity.  Your ministry will be one that will enrich and complete the empty place in your life.

Today I want to encourage you to commit to telling others the things you have learned from the scriptures and teaching of Paul and all the books in the Bible.  Pass them on through groups and other connections you make.  Become a leader to inspire others to learn and grow in their daily walk with the Lord.  This is where true fulfilment comes in all areas of your life.
