Here is a hint

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Mark 13:31

In today’s reading, Jesus continues by talking about the last days and the great tribulaiton. But He gives us a hint where are focus should be and continuously stay on. The clue He gave is in verse 31, but I believe this is one verse in the passage that often gets overlooked.  It says no matter what happens and no matter when it happens, there is one thing that will remain and always be the same in strength and power that you can depend on, that is the word of God.

God’s word!  What a precious gift we have been given.  Having a written form accessible to us 24/7 is something that up until the last 200 or so years, was not available to everyone.  We are blessed more than any other civilization before us because of the unrestricted access we have to God’s words and promises to all people.  Sadly, we are probably the one age who ignores it more than any other time in history.  Of course, I don’t know if that is the case, but certainly the present time in this world, people have a greater responsibility to know God’s Word since it is at our fingertips continuously.

Oh, we get excited about the latest headlines and the current crisis and think, this could be it?  Surly He is on His way back for us now, but we don’t take the time to bask in the love of His word that He gave us to know Him so intimately.  Plainly said: God’s word needs to become our focus and our main priority in life.  We should know if better than we know how to use any devise or any other written word we study, whether digitally or manually.  We need to value the Word of God as the great treasure that it is, bury it in our heart so that all our responses in life will be in line with Him, not against Him, and all our focus will be on Him, not on who the anit-Christ could be?

Today I want to encourage you to get in God’s word.  If you don’t already have a quiet time that you spend with Him and His word each day, start today.  If you do have that time, then begin to really appreciating the gift we have in God’s word and recognize it as the authority that will stand forever. Everything else in this world will fade away, but here is a hint to hold onto, His word and the power of it will be with you through all eternity. Learn it now and you trip there will go much smoother.

Today’s scripture reading: Mark 13:14-31

14 “So when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not” (let the reader understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

15 Let him who is on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter to take anything out of his house.

16 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.

17 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!

18 And pray that your flight may not be in winter.

19 For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor ever shall be.

20 And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.

21 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Look, He is there!’ do not believe it.

22 For false Christ’s and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

23 But take heed; see, I have told you all things beforehand.

24 “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;

25 the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

26 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

27 And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.

28 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.

29 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that it is near—at the doors!

30 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
