Don’t Worry
Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. 23Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Luke 12:22-23
Don’t worry? Is this even possible? In the world we live in today, how can we not worry? Worry about keeping our job? Worry about our children growing up in godless society? Worry about contracting an illness or disease? Certainly, God understands that things are a little stressful in day to day living right now?
Well, according to this passage, and this is Jesus speaking, we should not be worried about life. In fact, this isn’t even a suggestion, it is a direct order. He said don’t worry about if there will be food on the table of if I will have clothes to wear. The reason is because life is so much more than eating and the latest fashions. He goes on to say that God takes care of the birds and the flowers so how much more valuable are we to God than these?
Then Jesus asked if you can add to or change anything by worrying. He said that is what the godless nations of the world worry about. Then, He gives us the key to success in life to having those needs and desires met. It is: Seek first, that is before anything else, God’s kingdom and His righteousness in Christ Jesus. As you do that, then all of the above things will be added to you. That is a extremely awesome promise!!
Making God’s kingdom growth and progress should be our top priority everyday. Each morning when you get up, instead of asking “How can I make my life better and add to my domain?” We should be asking “What can I do to expand God’s kingdom and righteousness in the world?” This is our purpose in the place that we live in and this is God’s plan for our lives and the reason He gives us breath.
Today I want to encourage you not to worry about the things you need. Instead, start the day off seeking God’s kingdom plan and receive His righteousness to accomplish it. As you begin to line your life up with God’s agenda, all the other things will be added to you and fall into place.

22 Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on.
23 Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
24 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?
25 And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
26 If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?
27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28 If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?
29 “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.
30 For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things.
31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
